Investigation of application
8. Investigation of application
(1) On receiving an application for registration as a second hand dealer or an
application for endorsement as a pawnbroker, the Authority, except in the
prescribed circumstances, must refer any details of the application that the
Authority considers relevant to the Director and the Chief Commissioner of
Police.
(1A) The Director may inquire into and report to the Authority on the
application.
(2) The Chief Commissioner of Police must, not more than 14 days after receipt
of details of the application by the Commissioner, enquire into and report to
the Authority on the criminal record, if any, of-
(a) the applicant;
(b) if the applicant is a body corporate, the directors of the applicant;
(c) the associates, if any, of the applicant.
(3) A report may include recommendations.
