Certain charges prohibited

51. Certain charges prohibited



(1) A person must not demand or receive from a tenant a charge or indemnity
for a charge in relation to the making, continuation or renewal of a tenancy
agreement that is a premium, bonus, commission or key money.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.

(2) A person must not demand or receive from a tenant under a proposed tenancy
agreement a charge in relation to the inspection of the premises by a tenant.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.

(3) A person must not demand or receive from a tenant a charge or indemnity
for a charge in relation to-

   (a)  the first issue of a rent payment card under a tenancy agreement; or

   (b)  the establishment or use of direct debit facilities for payment of
        rent under a tenancy agreement.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.
