Application of Act to assignees and transferees

5. Application of Act to assignees and transferees



(1) This Act applies to a person to whom the rights and duties of-

   (a)  a landlord under a tenancy agreement; or

   (b)  a tenant under a tenancy agreement-

have been assigned or transferred or have passed by operation of law in the
same manner as this Act applies to the person by whom the rights were assigned
or transferred or from whom the rights and duties have passed by operation of
law.

(2) Nothing in subsection (1) operates to confer any rights under this Act on
an assignee of a tenant if the assignment is not in accordance with this Act.
