Purposes of Division

16A. Purposes of Division

The purposes of this Division are-

   (a)  to curtail trade in stolen motor vehicles by preventing vehicle
        information about written-off vehicles, particularly vehicle
        identifiers, being used to register stolen motor vehicles;

   (b)  to facilitate inspections of written-off vehicles that have been
        repaired;

   (c)  to make information available to prospective purchasers about whether
        a motor vehicle has previously been written off.
