Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001 - SECT 1

PART 1 PRELIMINARY

Purposes

1. Purposes

The purposes of this Act are-

   (a)  to promote racial and religious tolerance by prohibiting certain
        conduct involving the vilification of persons on the ground of race or
        religious belief or activity;

   (b)  to provide a means of redress for the victims of racial or religious
        vilification;

   (c)  to make consequential amendments to the Equal Opportunity Act 1995.
