Police Regulation Act 1958 - SECT 60

Definitions

60. Definitions



(1) In the next three succeeding sections unless inconsistent with the context
or subject-matter-

appointed day means the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and
fifty;

pensioner means a person who has retired from the force before the appointed
day and who on or after the appointed day is receiving a pension pursuant to
the provisions of this Act or any corresponding previous enactment.

(2) For the purposes of the said sections and paragraph 5 of the Fourth
Schedule to this Act any member of the force who held for any material period
the rank of-

   (a)  constable (with at least ten years service and not having been reduced
        in rank)-shall be deemed to have held the rank of first constable;

   (b)  second-class sergeant or first-class sergeant-shall be deemed to have
        held the rank of sergeant;

   (c)  sub-inspector-shall be deemed to have held the rank of inspector-

for such period.
