Incapacitated officers

16B. Incapacitated officers



(1) The Chief Commissioner may of his or her own volition or at the request of
a member of the force inquire into the fitness and capacity of the member to
discharge the duties of his or her office.





(2) In connection with that inquiry the Chief Commissioner may require the
member to submit himself or herself for examination by the Police Medical
Officer or by a medical practitioner registered under the
Health Professions Registration Act 2005 nominated by the Chief Commissioner.

(3) If the Chief Commissioner is satisfied that the member is incapacitated
for the performance of his or her duty by infirmity of mind or body he or she
may cause the member to be retired.
