PETROLEUM ACT 1998 - SECT 221
Defences to charge of failing to comply with a notice(1) In a proceeding for an offence of failing to comply with an improvement notice, it is a defence to the charge for the accused to prove that it did not contravene this Act, or fail to comply with a condition of an authority, in the manner set out in the improvement notice.
(2) In a proceeding for an offence of failing to comply with an improvement or prohibition notice, it is a defence to the charge for the accused to prove that it took all reasonable steps to comply with the notice.
