The faculties and the appointment or election of deans

29. The faculties and the appointment or election of deans



(1) Subject to the express provisions of any Act-

   (a)  there shall be such faculties as are from time to time established by
        the statutes with such constitutions and such powers and duties as are
        conferred or imposed upon them by or under this Act or any other Act
        or any statutes or regulations of the University; and

   (b)  a dean of each faculty shall pursuant to and in accordance with
        statutes of the University from time to time as occasion arises be-

   (i)  appointed by the council; or

   (ii) elected by the members of the faculty from their own number; and

   (c)  each faculty may subject to the statutes and regulations of the
        University regulate its own proceedings.

(2) The deans of the several faculties shall as such have such powers and
duties as are conferred or imposed upon them by statutes or regulations of the
University.
