3. Establishment of Monash University
(1) There shall be established in Victoria a University to be known as "Monash
University" consisting of a Council, the professors members of the teaching
staff and members of the faculties within the University such other members of
the staff of the University, other than the teaching staff, as may from time
to time be designated in that behalf by the Council and the graduates and
students of the University.
(2) The University shall be a body politic and corporate by the name of
"Monash University" and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and
shall be capable in law of suing and of being sued and of taking purchasing
holding demising selling transferring conveying mortgaging or otherwise
disposing of real and personal property for the purposes of and subject to
this Act and of doing and suffering all acts matters and things which bodies
corporate may by law do and suffer.
