Exemption from rates

32. Exemption from rates



(1) For the purposes of section 154 of the Local Government Act 1989-

   (a)  the Authority shall be deemed to be a public statutory body; and

   (b)  the market land, other than any part or parts of that land that is
        leased or occupied for any business purposes by a person other than
        the Authority, shall be deemed to be land used exclusively for public
        purposes.

(2) Any part or parts of the market land used or occupied by persons carrying
on business in movable stalls during some but not all of the ordinary business
hours in a week shall be deemed not to be used to carry on a business for
profit.
