Status of forensic patients
17A. Status of forensic patients
(1) Upon admission to an approved mental health service (whether under section
17 or otherwise), a forensic patient is to be detained and treated for his or
her condition.
(2) If a forensic patient refuses to consent to necessary treatment or is not
capable of consenting to treatment for his or her mental disorder, consent in
writing may be given by the authorised psychiatrist.
