Functions of Board

7. Functions of Board



(1) The functions of the Board are-

   (a)  to provide for fire suppression and fire prevention services in the
        metropolitan fire district; and

   (b)  to provide for emergency prevention and response services in the
        metropolitan fire district; and

   (c)  to carry out any other functions conferred on the Board by or under
        this Act or any other Act.

(2) The Board has all powers necessary to carry out its functions.

(3) The functions of the Board extend to any vessel berthed adjacent to land
which by virtue of section 4(2) is part of the metropolitan fire district.

(4) The Board must use its best endeavours to carry out its functions in
accordance with the standards prepared by the Emergency Services Commissioner
under Part 4A of the Emergency Management Act 1986.

(5) The Board must, at the expiration of each three month period, report on
the action it has taken during the preceding three months to comply with the
standards prepared by the Emergency Services Commissioner under Part 4A of the
Emergency Management Act 1986.
