10. Effecting registration, renewal or transfer



(1) Registration, renewal of registration and transfer of registration may be
applied for, and granted or refused, only in accordance with the regulations.

(2) If the Director is satisfied that a vessel in respect of which an
application for registration is made meets the prescribed standards for
registration, and if the applicant complies with the provisions of this Act
and the regulations relating to registration, the Director must register the
vessel.

(3) Regulations made under this Act must not require the payment of any fees,
rates or charges in respect of the registration of a vessel that is used or
intended to be used primarily for search and rescue purposes and is owned by
an organisation approved by the Director for the purposes of this subsection.
