PART 7 TRANSITIONAL

First College Council

35. First College Council



(1) Despite anything to the contrary in the Principal Act, on and after the
Appointed Day the College Council shall consist of the following members-

   (a)  the Vice Chancellor of La Trobe;

   (b)  two persons appointed by the Council of La Trobe;

   (c)  the Principal of the College;

   (d)  one person appointed by the Minister;

   (e)  the persons who, immediately before the commencement of this section,
        held office as members of the Council of Bendigo appointed by the
        Governor in Council or as elected or co-opted members of that Council.

(2) If the office of a member referred to in subsection (1)(e) becomes vacant,
the vacancy may be filled in the same way in which the corresponding vacancy
on the Council of Bendigo could have been filled.

(3) If the Vice Chancellor, by writing given to the secretary of the College
Council nominates another person to act as member of the College Council in
his or her place, the person so nominated is a member of the College Council
until the Vice Chancellor, by writing given to the secretary of the College
Council, revokes the nomination or nominates another person.







(4) On a day specified by the Minister, having regard to advice from the
College Council, not later than 12 months after the Appointed Day, subsection
(1) ceases to have effect and the College Council shall be constituted in
accordance with the Principal Act as amended by this Act.
