The long title for the Bill for this Act was "A Bill to establish the La Trobe University College of Northern Victoria and dissolve the Bendigo College of Advanced Education, to provide for the merger of the Wodonga Institute of Tertiary Education with La Trobe University, to amend the La Trobe University Act 1964 and for other purposes.".
The La Trobe University (Bendigo and Wodonga) Act 1990 was assented to on 18 December 1990 and came into operation on 22 January 1991: Special Gazette (No. 7) 22 January 1991 p. 1.
