Academic Board

27. Academic Board



(1) There shall be an Academic Board consisting of-





   (a)  the Vice Chancellor, and such academic and other staff of the
        University as the Statutes or regulations may prescribe who shall be
        members ex officio; and



   (b)  such number of professors and other representatives of the academic
        staff as the Statutes or regulations may prescribe, who shall be
        elected for such term and in such manner as the Statutes or
        regulations prescribe; and

   (c)  such number of representatives of enrolled students of the University
        as the Statutes or regulations prescribe, being persons who are
        enrolled students of the University chosen in the manner and holding
        office for the term specified in the Statutes or regulations.

(2) The Statutes or regulations may make provision for the appointment or
election of a chairman and a deputy chairman of the Academic Board.



(3) The Academic Board-

   (a)  may make to the Council any recommendation about the academic affairs
        of the University and in particular may make to the Council such
        recommendations as it thinks proper with respect to instruction,
        studies and examinations, research, admission to degrees, diplomas and
        other awards and discipline in the University;

   (b)  shall report to the Council on all matters submitted to it by the
        Council for report;





   (c)  shall have such other powers and duties as are conferred or imposed
        upon it by this Act and the Statutes and regulations of the
        University; and

   (d)  subject to this Act and the Statutes and regulations may regulate its
        own proceedings.
