2.5.3. Criminal record checks and police reports



(1) This section applies if the Board believes on reasonable grounds that a
subject person has been found guilty of an offence that may result in him or
her not being a fit and proper person to engage in legal practice in this
jurisdiction.

(2) The Board may ask the Chief Commissioner of Police to conduct a check of
the subject person's criminal record.

(3) The Chief Commissioner of Police must-

   (a)  conduct a check of the criminal record of the subject person; and

   (b)  give the Board a report on the person's criminal record (if any).

(4) The Chief Commissioner of Police is not required to comply with subsection
(3) until the reasonable costs of the check and report are paid by the Board.
