Property identification numbers
9B. Property identification numbers
(1) A person who owns any cattle or prescribed livestock or any livestock of a
prescribed species or class must apply to the Secretary for the allocation of
a code that identifies the property of birth of the cattle or livestock or the
place where the cattle or livestock is to be kept.
Penalty: 60 penalty units.
(1A) The Secretary must determine at the time of allocating a code whether the
code identifies the property of birth of the cattle or livestock or the place
where the cattle or livestock is to be kept.
(2) An application under subsection (1) must be-
(a) made in the prescribed manner; and
(b) accompanied by the fee (if any) fixed by the Minister.
(3) The Secretary must issue a property identification code or number to a
person who has applied in accordance with this section.
(4) A property code or identification number remains in force for any period
that is specified by the Secretary with respect to any property identification
code or number issued by the Secretary.
