Apicultural Industry Advisory Committee

70. Apicultural Industry Advisory Committee



(1) There is established by this Act a committee to be known as the
Apicultural Industry Advisory Committee.

(2) The functions of the Committee are to advise the Minister about-

   (a)  diseases in respect of which compensation should be payable under this
        Division;

   (ab) the circumstances in which compensation should be payable under this
        Division;



   (ac) the maximum amount of compensation which should be payable under this
        Division for the destruction or disinfection of bees, livestock
        products of bees, fittings or other articles;

   (b)  the maximum amount of compensation payable in respect of any claim by
        one owner;

   (c)  the amounts of fees which should be payable by beekeepers under this
        Act;

   (d)  payments which should be made under section 67(2);

   (e)  any other matter referred to the Committee by the Minister.

(3) The Committee consists of 5 members appointed by the Minister, of whom-

   (a)  3 are to be persons nominated by the Victorian Apiarists' Association
        Inc.;

   (b)  2 are to be persons nominated by the Secretary.

(4) The Minister may appoint one of the members of the Committee to be
chairperson.

(5) A member of the Committee may, by notice in writing to the Minister,
nominate another person to act in the place of that member at all meetings or
any meeting of the Committee. A person so nominated who attends a meeting of
the Committee may act as if that person was a member of the Committee and may
vote on any matter for resolution by the Committee.

(6) The provisions of Schedule 1 apply to the Committee.
