Agreements with owners of livestock
17. Agreements with owners of livestock
(1) The Secretary may enter into a written agreement with an owner of
livestock which requires that owner to do anything which an inspector has
power to direct the owner to do under this Act.
(2) An owner of livestock is not liable to be prosecuted for an offence
against this Act in respect of any matter provided for in an agreement under
subsection (1) if the owner is acting in accordance with the agreement.
(3) An agreement may be amended by further agreement between the Secretary and
the owner.
(4) An agreement may be revoked by the Secretary or the owner by giving notice
in writing to the other party to the agreement.
(5) If the Secretary revokes an agreement, the owner may appeal to the
Minister to review that revocation.
