Proof of rent paid

81. Proof of rent paid

For the purposes of this Division a certificate, purporting to be signed by
the town clerk or shire secretary or valuer of any municipality, to the effect
that in the records of that municipality a rent specified in the certificate
is shown as having been the rent of any specified premises at any specified
date before or within one year after the thirty-first day of December One
thousand nine hundred and forty shall be prima facie evidence-

   (a)  that the rent so specified was the rent payable in respect of the
        premises at the specified date; and





   (b)  (where that date is within twelve months before or after the
        thirty-first day of December One thousand nine hundred and forty) that
        the rent so specified was also the rent payable in respect of the
        premises at the said thirty-first day of December.
