Recovery of overpaid rent

72. Recovery of overpaid rent

Where any sum has been paid on account of any rent, being a sum which by
virtue of this Part would have been irrecoverable by the lessor, the sum so
paid shall be recoverable as a debt in any court of competent jurisdiction
from the lessor who received the payment by the lessee by whom it was paid,
and may, without prejudice to any other method of recovery, be deducted by
that lessee from any rent payable by him to such lessor within six months
after the date of the payment.
