Acquisition by agreement

18. Acquisition by agreement



(1) The Authority may, at any time after the service of a notice of intention
to acquire an interest in land and before the notice has lapsed or been
withdrawn and before the publication of a notice of acquisition in respect of
that interest, acquire that interest by agreement.

(2) The compensation paid by the Authority pursuant to an agreement referred
to in subsection (1) may take into account the compensation which would have
been payable in respect of the interest if a notice of acquisition had been
published in respect of the interest on the date of the agreement.

(3) An interest in land which has been acquired by an agreement referred to in
subsection (1) is to be treated as having been compulsorily acquired for the
purpose of any matter arising under any other Act after the acquisition.
