Granting of leases for agricultural purposes

121. Granting of leases for agricultural purposes



(1) The Minister, or a person authorised in writing by the Minister, may grant
a lease under this Division for agricultural purposes.

(2) A lease granted under subsection (1) is subject to-

   (a)  the payment of rent determined by the person granting the lease; and

   (b)  the terms, conditions, covenants, reservations, restrictions and
        exceptions that the person granting the lease thinks fit.

(3) Without limiting subsection (2), a lease granted under subsection (1) may
contain-

   (a)  options for the lessee to renew the lease for a further term or terms;
        and

   (b)  provision for a lessee to remain in occupation of the land under the
        same terms and conditions as existed under the lease, at the
        discretion of the lessor, for a period not exceeding 3 months from the
        expiry of the lease.
