Court may excuse person from jury service

11. Court may excuse person from jury service



(1) A court may, by order, excuse a person from jury service-

   (a)  for the whole or a part of a jury service period; or

   (b)  for a longer period specified by the court; or

   (c)  permanently.

(2) A court may make an order under subsection (1)-

   (a)  on an appeal under section 10; or

   (b)  if the Juries Commissioner refers the matter to the court-

if the court is satisfied that there is good reason for the person to be
excused from jury service.

(3) For the purposes of subsection (2), good reason includes the matters set
out in section 8(3).
