Terms and conditions of appointment
52. Terms and conditions of appointment
(1) Subject to this Part, the Privacy Commissioner holds office for the
period, not exceeding 7 years, that is specified in the instrument of
appointment but is eligible for re-appointment.
(2) Subject to this Part, the Privacy Commissioner holds office on the terms
and conditions determined by the Governor in Council.
(3) The Privacy Commissioner is entitled to leave of absence as determined by
the Governor in Council.
(4) The Privacy Commissioner must not engage, directly or indirectly, in paid
employment outside the duties of Privacy Commissioner.
(5) The Public Administration Act 2004 does not apply to the Privacy
Commissioner in respect of the office of Privacy Commissioner, except as
provided in section 16 of that Act.
