The long title for the Bill for this Act was "to regulate introduction agents and for other purposes."
The Introduction Agents Act 1997 was assented to on 25 November 1997 and came into operation as follows:
Part 1 (sections 1-3) on 25 November 1997: section 2(1); rest of Act on 1 July 1998: Special Gazette (No. 65) 30 June 1998 page 2.

3. Explanatory Details

1 S. 5(1)(b): The Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984, No. 10096/1984 which applies to this Act, defines a document in this way-
	38.	Definitions
document includes, in addition to a document in writing-
	(a)	any book, map, plan, graph or drawing;
	(b)	any photograph;
	(c)	any label, marking or other writing which identifies or describes anything of which it forms part, or to which it is attached by any means whatsoever;
	(d)	any disc, tape, sound track or other device in which sounds or other data (not being visual images) are embodied so as to be capable (with or without the aid of some other equipment) of being reproduced therefrom;
	(e)	any film (including a microfilm), negative, tape or other device in which one or more visual images are embodied so as to be capable (with or without the aid of some other equipment) of being reproduced therefrom;
	(f)	anything whatsoever on which is marked any words, figures, letters or symbols which are capable of carrying a definite meaning to persons conversant with them.
