Goods Act 1958 - SECT 81

Saving of rights

81. Saving of rights

Nothing in this Part-

   (a)  shall authorize an agent to exceed or depart from his authority as
        between himself and his principal or shall exempt him from liability
        civil or criminal for so doing;

   (b)  shall prevent the owner of goods or documents from recovering the same
        from an agent or his assignee or trustee in bankruptcy at any time
        before the sale or pledge thereof;

   (c)  shall prevent the owner of any goods sold by an agent from recovering
        from the buyer the price or sum agreed to be paid subject to any
        rights of set off of such buyer against such agent;

   (d)  shall prevent such owner from having the right to redeem goods or
        documents pledged at any time before sale thereof on satisfying the
        claim for which the goods were pledged and on paying to the agent if
        by him required any money in respect of which such agent would by law
        be entitled to retain such goods or documents or any of them by way of
        lien as against such owner; or shall prevent such owner from
        recovering from any person with whom any such goods have been pledged
        any balance or sum of money remaining in his hands as the produce of
        sale after deducting the amount of his lien.
