Friendly societies

56. Friendly societies

Unless the contrary intention appears, a reference in an Act (other than this
Act) or a legislative instrument to a friendly society has effect on and after
the transfer date as a reference to a body-

   (a)  that, immediately before the transfer date, was a society within the
        meaning of the Friendly Societies Code; or

   (b)  a body that is a friendly society for the purposes of the
        Life Insurance Act 1995 of the Commonwealth.
