Power to enter into agreements

13. Power to enter into agreements



(1) The Minister may do any thing which in his or her opinion is necessary or
convenient to ensure the co-operation of the government of the Commonwealth or
the government of any other State in carrying out the purposes of this Act.

(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the Minister may enter into agreements
with a Minister of the Crown in right of the Commonwealth or in right of any
other State or with Ministers of the Crown in right of the Commonwealth and in
right of any other States or with any authority constituted under a law of the
Commonwealth or of any other State, including without limiting the generality
of this subsection agreements for-





   (a)  fisheries adjustment schemes and funding of such schemes; and

   (b)  fisheries research schemes and funding of such schemes.

(3) Despite anything to the contrary in this Act, the Secretary-

   (a)  must perform any duties or functions required to be performed by the
        Secretary; and

   (b)  may exercise any powers and perform any functions conferred on or
        delegated to the Secretary-

by or under this section or an agreement made under this section.
