Acting appointments

15. Acting appointments



(1) The Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister, may
appoint a person to act as Director-

   (a)  during a vacancy in the office of the Director (including an initial
        vacancy); or

   (b)  during any period, or during all periods, when the Director is absent
        or, for any other reason, is unable to perform the functions of
        Director.

(2) A person appointed to act during a vacancy pursuant to subsection (1)(a)
must not continue to act for more than 6 months, unless re-appointed.

(3) An acting appointment shall be for the term and on the conditions
determined by the Minister.

(4) The Governor in Council may at any time terminate an acting appointment.

(5) A person appointed under this section has all the powers, and may perform
all the functions, of the person for whom he or she is acting.
