Meetings of the Commission
28. Meetings of the Commission
(1) The Chairperson may convene as many meetings of the Commission as he or
she considers necessary for the efficient conduct of its affairs.
(2) The Chairperson or, in his or her absence, a member appointed to act as
Chairperson under section 20, must preside at a meeting of the Commission.
(3) Subject to section 30(2), the quorum for a meeting of the Commission is a
majority of the Commissioners in office for the time being other than any
additional Commissioner to whom section 29(2) applies.
(4) A question arising at a meeting of the Commission is determined by a
majority of the votes of the Commissioners present and voting on the question.
(4A) The Commission may transact any of its business at a meeting at which the
Commissioners or any of the Commissioners participate by audio link or audio
visual link.
(4B) A Commissioner who participates in a meeting in accordance with
subsection (4A) is to be taken to be present at the meeting.
(4C) For the purposes of subsection (4A)-
audio link means facilities (including telephone) that enable audio
communication between persons at different locations; audio visual link means
facilities (including closed-circuit television) that enable audio and visual
communication between persons at different locations.
(5) The person presiding has a deliberative vote and, in the event of an
equality of votes on any question, a second or casting vote.
(6) Subject to this Act, the Commission may regulate its own procedure.
