Principle of wastes hierarchy

1I. Principle of wastes hierarchy

Wastes should be managed in accordance with the following order of preference-

   (a)  avoidance;

   (b)  re-use;

   (c)  re-cycling;

   (d)  recovery of energy;

   (e)  treatment;

   (f)  containment;

   (g)  disposal.
