Transitional provision relating to community services

48. Transitional provision relating to community services



(1) An agreement to which this section applies that, but for this section,
would cease to have effect on 31 December 2000, continues in force until the
expiration of the prescribed period or terminated upon the making of a new
agreement by the retailer with the State for the provision of community
services by way of the provision of electricity to certain customers,
whichever first occurs.

(2) The prescribed period is the period ending on 31 March 2001 or such other
date, not later than 30 June 2001, as is agreed between the retailer and the
Secretary to the Department of Human Services.

(3) If a new agreement is not made between the retailer and the State before
the expiration of the prescribed period, an agreement is deemed to have been
entered into on terms and conditions determined by the Secretary in accordance
with section 47.

(4) This section applies to an agreement in force before 31 December 2000
under which a retailer agrees with the State to provide certain community
services by way of the provision of electricity to customers.
