2.4.4. Filling of vacant positions



(1) If a position is vacant or is about to become vacant, the Secretary may-

   (a)  take steps to employ, transfer or promote a person to fill the vacancy
        under this Part; or

   (b)  assign for a specified period a qualified person to fill the vacancy.

(2) In the selection of a person to fill a vacant position, the Secretary must
have regard to any relevant criteria.
