Builder must not enter into a contract unless registered

29. Builder must not enter into a contract unless registered

A builder must not enter into a major domestic building contract unless-

   (a)  the builder is registered as a builder under the Building Act 1993, in
        the case of a natural person; or

   (b)  in the case of a builder which is a partnership, at least one of the
        partners is registered as a builder under that Act; or

   (c)  in the case of a builder which is a corporation, at least one of the
        directors is registered as a builder under that Act; or

   (d)  in the case of a builder who is exempt under the Building Act 1993
        from the requirement to be registered, the domestic building work to
        be carried out under the contract is to be carried out by a builder
        who is registered as a builder under the Building Act 1993.

Penalty: 100 penalty units.
