Crimes (Criminal Trials) Act 1999 - SECT 3

Definitions

3. Definitions

In this Act- cognitive impairment includes impairment because of mental
illness, intellectual disability, dementia or brain injury;





court means the Supreme Court or the County Court (as the case requires) at
which presentment is made, or at which it is proposed to make presentment, for
an offence;

day on which the trial is due to commence means the day on which the accused
is due to be put in the charge of the jury;

directions hearing means a directions hearing under section 5; legal
practitioner means an Australian lawyer within the meaning of the
Legal Profession Act 2004;

presentment includes indictment;

prosecutor means the Director of Public Prosecutions for Victoria or the
Director of Public Prosecutions for the Commonwealth;

sexual offence has the same meaning as in section 3(1) of the
Evidence Act 1958. _______________
