Duration of payments

21. Duration of payments



(1) The payment of any sum to an applicant pursuant to the provisions of this
Division-

   (a)  shall be made as from the date of receipt of the application by the
        Secretary or such later date as he directs;

   (b)  may be discontinued, suspended, increased, or reduced at any time by
        the Secretary as is warranted by the circumstances of the case;

   (c)  shall cease to be paid in respect of a child or young person upon such
        child or young person discontinuing full-time attendance at school
        unless the Secretary directs in writing, where the child or
        young person is an invalid or is otherwise incapacitated or where in
        his opinion the special circumstances of the case make it advisable,
        that assistance be continued for any further period or periods until
        he attains the age of sixteen years.

(2) The provisions of this Division relating to investigations shall with such
adaptations as are necessary extend and apply for the purposes of this
section.
