Criminal Procedure Act 2009 - SECT 65
Parties may give opening addresses
65. Parties may give opening addresses
(1) With the leave of the Magistrates' Court and before any evidence is given-
(a) the prosecutor may give an opening address to the court on the
prosecution case against the accused; and
(b) the accused may give an opening address to the court in response to
the prosecutor's opening address.
(2) The Magistrates' Court may limit the length of the opening addresses.
