Meetings between the State and the Council

8. Meetings between the State and the Council



(1) The Premier, or his or her nominee, may convene meetings with the Council
to consider any matter that, in the opinion of the Premier (or the nominee),
is of significance to the Government of the State and is relevant to achieving
the objectives of the City of Melbourne as the capital city of the State of
Victoria.

(2) Without limiting subsection (1), matters of significance may include major
building or infrastructure projects, and social and environmental policies
that contribute to the development of the City of Melbourne as a liveable and
competitive city.

(3) The Lord Mayor and the Deputy Lord Mayor are to represent the Council at
any meeting convened under this section.
