Contents of Strategy

15. Contents of Strategy



(1) The Victorian Coastal Strategy must provide for the long term planning of
the Victorian coast-

   (a)  to ensure the protection of significant environmental features of the
        coast; and

   (b)  to provide clear direction for the future use of the coast including
        the marine environment; and

   (c)  to identify suitable development areas and development opportunities
        on the coast; and

   (d)  to ensure the sustainable use of natural coastal resources.

(2) The Victorian Coastal Strategy must be consistent with-

   (a)  the National Parks Act 1975, in the case of any park within the
        meaning of that Act; and

   (b)  the purposes for which land was reserved, in the case of land reserved
        or deemed to be reserved under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978.
