Indemnity for authorised persons
21. Indemnity for authorised persons
(1) This section applies if the chief officer of a law enforcement agency
grants an authority.
(2) The law enforcement agency must indemnify the authorised person under the
authority for any liability incurred by the person (including reasonable
costs) because of something done by the person (whether in this jurisdiction
or elsewhere) if-
(a) the thing is done in the course of acquiring or using an assumed
identity in accordance with the authority; and
(b) the thing is done-
(i) in the case of an authorised officer-in the course of his or her duty;
or
(ii) in the case of an authorised civilian-in accordance with any direction
by his or her supervisor under the authority; and
(c) any requirements prescribed under the regulations have been met.
