Crimes (Assumed Identities) Act 2004 - SECT 1

PART 1 PRELIMINARY

Purpose

1. Purpose



(1) The main purpose of this Act is, for law enforcement or security purposes,
to facilitate investigations, intelligence gathering and other related
activities, including activities extending beyond Victoria.

(2) The main ways in which that purpose is to be achieved under this Act
include-

   (a)  providing for the lawful acquisition and use of assumed identities;
        and

   (b)  facilitating mutual recognition of things done in relation to assumed
        identities under corresponding laws.
