The long title for the Bill for this Act was "A Bill to facilitate preparations for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Melbourne in 2006, to amend the Melbourne Cricket Ground Act 1933, the State Sport Centres Act 1994 and the Project Development and Construction Management Act 1994 and for other purposes."
The Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2001 was assented to on 16 October 2001 and came into operation on 17 October 2001: section 2.
