Employment of children during school hours
11. Employment of children during school hours
(1) A person must not employ a child during school hours on any school day
unless the Minister has granted the child an exemption from attendance at
school under section 2.1.5 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006.
Penalty: 100 penalty units in the case of a body corporate; 60 penalty units
in any other case.
(2) A parent or guardian of a child must not allow the child to engage in
employment if the nature and extent of the employment is such as to prejudice
the child's attendance at school or their capacity to benefit from
instruction.
Penalty: 60 penalty units.
