Construction of references
5B. Construction of references
(1) Any reference in any Act or in any proclamation regulation rule or by-law
to a "court of general sessions" or to a "court of general sessions of the
peace" shall after the commencement of the County Court (Jurisdiction) Act
1968 be read and construed as a reference to the County Court and any
reference to a "chairman of general sessions" shall be read and construed as a
reference to a judge of the County Court.
(2) Any reference in any summons, application, notice, recognizance, judgment,
order, determination, decision, direction, or other instrument to a "court of
general sessions" or "court of general sessions of the peace" shall after the
commencement of the County Court (Jurisdiction) Act 1968 be read and construed
as a reference to the County Court and any reference to a "chairman of general
sessions" shall be read and construed as a reference to a judge of
the County Court.
