Regulations

80. Regulations

(1) The Governor in Council may make regulations for or with respect to any
matter or thing required or permitted by this Act to be prescribed or
necessary to be prescribed to give effect to this Act.

(2) The regulations may contain provisions of a savings or transitional nature
consequent on the enactment of this Act, being provisions not inconsistent
with the national scheme laws of this jurisdiction.

(3) Any such provision may, if the regulations so provide, take effect on the
date of commencement of this section or a later date.

(4) To the extent to which any such provision takes effect from a date that is
earlier than the date of its publication in the Government Gazette, the
provision does not operate so as-

   (a) to affect, in a manner prejudicial to any person (other than the State
or an authority of the State), the rights of that person existing
before the date of that publication; or

   (b) to impose a liability on any person (other than the State or an
authority of the State) in respect of anything done or omitted to be
done before the date of that publication.

(5) Regulations containing provisions of a kind referred to in subsection (2)
cease to have effect on the first anniversary of the day on which this section
comes into operation.

(6) Where regulations cease to have effect because of subsection (5), section
6A(2) of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1962 applies as if the regulations
had been disallowed by the Parliament.
