PART 10 TRANSITIONAL

Transitional provisions

76. Transitional provisions



(1) Section 17, as amended by section 7 of the Coroners (Amendment) Act 1999,
applies only to deaths that occur after the commencement of section 7 of that
Act.

(2) Section 18, as amended by section 9 of the Coroners (Amendment) Act 1999,
applies only to deaths that occur after the commencement of section 9 of that
Act.

(3) Section 19, as amended by section 10 of the Coroners (Amendment) Act 1999,
applies only to investigations into deaths commenced after the commencement of
section 10 of that Act.

(4) Section 35, as amended by section 9 of the Coroners (Amendment) Act 1999,
applies only to fires that occur after the commencement of section 9 of that
Act.

Details

1 S. 17: Section 9(3) of Coroners (Amendment) Act 1995, No. 25/1995 reads as
follows:
9. Coroner's discretion to hold an inquest, consequential amendment and
transitional

(3) Section 17 of the Coroners Act 1985 as amended by this section applies to
all deaths, whether occurring before or after the commencement of this
section, if a coroner has not, before that commencement, made a finding under
section 19(1) of that Act in relation to the death.

2 S. 67: Section 7(2) of Coroners (Amendment) Act 1995, No. 25/1995 reads as
follows:
7. Council of the Institute

(2) Despite the reconstitution and change of name of the Council, the Council
is deemed to be the same body after as before the commencement of this section
and no act, matter or thing is affected by those changes.
