Oath of allegiance

23. Oath of allegiance



(1) No member either of the Council or the Assembly shall be permitted to sit
or vote therein respectively until he has taken and subscribed before the
Governor or some person authorized by the Governor in that behalf the oath or
affirmation in the Second Schedule.

(2) Whenever the demise of the Crown is notified by the Governor to the
Council and the Assembly, the members of the Council and of the Assembly shall
before they are permitted to sit or vote therein respectively take and
subscribe the like oath or affirmation to the successor for the time being to
the Crown.
